These parts of the book are quite refreshing because in other works Lorayne tends to refer to these topics in passing. Next, you get crisp chapters on memory science and the history of memory techniques. He spends a small amount of time at the beginning addressing myths we have about aging and memory. And now that he’s in his 90s, he’s still inspiring us by sharing his life and his many accomplishments.Īgeless Memory Review: What You Need to KnowĪgeless Memory is for readers of all ages, but Lorayne is clearly addressing this book to those who may be suffering what he calls “senior moments.” Many of his other books include variations on the core teachings he shared in this initial publication.īut we’re so glad that he continued putting out memory training. His first memory book was How To Develop a Super Power Memory, published in 1957. We’re all glad that we did because his books have made a huge impact on learners around the world. Then, he decided to share the knowledge with others by writing about mnemonic techniques for a mass audience. Over the years, Lorayne practiced these techniques and developed his intelligence. So Lorayne went to the library and discovered memory techniques in what he told me were some “dusty old books.” One of them was the Rhetorica ad Herennium. One day, Lorayne paused and wondered why other students were doing better on their tests.Īnd it dawned on him that a big part of the problem was his memory. His father died when he was twelve, but the failing grades persisted. He was afraid of getting hit and the pain it caused him. Worse, his father used to punch him for getting poor grades.Īs Harry Lorayne told me in an interview, he was never scared about failing school. Once you've made a de- cision, forget it. If you keep procrastinating, to paraphrase Cervantes, you're traveling the streets of "by and by" which only lead to the house of "never."ĭon't waste too much time worrying or fretting about past mistakes. If it doesn't work out right-well, at least it's off your mind, and you can give your attention to something else. Instead of taking valuable time to fret about whether you should do something, worry about how to do it-but do it. "ĭon't wait too long for the "right" time, either, because that rarely comes. ③"If you have a goal in mind, do something about it. Those that have no time for anything are just not organizing well. Now I think everyone will agree that organization is certainly essential in order to use time properly. Which really means investing in it properly. And even knowing the "right" people cannot get you more than twenty-four hours per day.Īs far as I can see, the only way to save time is to spend it wisely. No one can inherit time-or keep it in a bank to gather interest.Īn hour contains sixty minutes no matter who is using it. Nobody has more time than you have, and nobody has less. ②"We always have time enough, if we will but use it alright." Certainly, theirs are more important to them than yours.Īnd, conversely, nobody's problems are quite so important or imperative to you as your own are. Your troubles and problems are yours, my friend, and nobody else really cares.īecause they all have problems of their own.
